Carrying on the theme from his Easter Sermon, Fr. Allen continues to pursue what it might mean for Resurrection past to turn into Resurrection newness in our Now. Today he examines the John 20:19-31 which contains two stories that work together well; the first stretches human identity into God's prerogatives; the second reminds us that this "stretching into God" is the call given to ordinary human beings. The link is an understanding of belief that moves cherished notions of certainty and faith as feeling and locates its deeper sense in an ongoing choice to live into the pattern of Jesus' revelation of God. If this catches hold in a community then it becomes clear why a secular world might still perk up at what's going on in Church!
